Lyrics: Just Pay Attention

I’m Part of the In-Crowd Now

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Nobody talked much to Reverend Thomas,
they all thought he was square.
You couldn’t ask him ’bout last night’s ballgame.
He acted like he didn’t care.

He doesn’t know about the latest movies.
He hardly turns on his TV
or else he would know that his clothes are old-fashioned,
about out of style as he can be.

Nobody’s nicer than Reverend Thomas,
He’s got a heart made of gold.
But some of that music…he’s still playin’
sounds like it’s fifty years old.

Everyone knew that he was old-fashioned,
up till the day that he died.
And somebody said when they lowered his casket,
they heard a voice from on high…

Chorus: Hey I’m part of the “in-crowd” now.
I just couldn’t fit in….the world I was in.
I might have been all alone,
but now I feel right at home,
up above these clouds.
Take a look at me now.
I’m part of the in-crowd now.

The world keeps pushing God to the background.
Everything else comes first.
It’s easy to see where everything’s headed.
The Bible says it’s gonna get worse.

If you’ve ever felt like a fish out of water,
more out of the loop everyday.
One of these days, you’ll see it doesn’t matter.
One of these days you’ll say…

Chorus repeat twice.

Nobody talked much to Reverend Thomas,
they all thought he was square.

That Old Lighthouse Shining Still

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Lost out on the sea…like a ship with no sails
tossed to and fro on the angry waves of a stormy gale.
Don’t know where to turn..so I call on the Lord.
Don’t want to lose my ship o the cliffs of a rocky shore.

So I hold on tight to the wheel…I turn my ship to the wind…
I squint my eyes in the rain…and I call on the Master again.

Chorus

And there He stands…up on the hill…that old lighthouse shining still.
On the rock…standing tall…holding firm in the face o a squall.
Angry billows may roll..I can hear the waves come crashing.
Where would I be without that keeper on the hill,
and that old lighthouse shining still?

Such a beautiful day…out on the open sea.
Nothing but the sun on my face and the breeze until suddenly
the wind turns to a howl…and the thunder roars.
The pouring rain obscures my view of the distant shore.

So I hold on tight to the wheel…I turn my ship to the wind.
I squint my eyes in the rain…and I call on the Master again.

Chorus repeat

And there He stands…up on the hill…that old lighthouse shining still.
On the rock…standing tall…holding firm in the face of a squall.
Angry billows may roll…I can hear the waves come crashing
Where would I be without that keeper? (Where would I be without King Jesus?)
Where would I be without that keeper on the hill? and that old lighthouse shining still?

I Believe That God’s In Love With Me

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Chasing butterflies and singing songs,
well that’s where any little girl belongs.
But she doesn’t get to go outside, instead
she spends almost everyday in bed.

She’s made it through to twelve years old somehow.
But the doctors don’t give her much longer now.
She’s had more than her fair-share of pain,
and there’s no-one with more right to complain.

Her mother kneels beside her bed in prayer.
She cries and tells the Lord it’s so unfair.
She wonders if her prayers have gone unheard
when her little angel offers up these words…

Chorus

Mamma, I believe that God’s in love with me.
Maybe Jesus needs an angel or another voice to sing.
There must be something up there He can’t wait for me to see.
Mamma, I believe that God’s in love with me.

Now her family’s laying flowers at the grave.
Seven years ago their daughter passed away.
They imagine her an angel in the choir,
in a land where no-one’s ever sick or tired.

Well now, everything that you and I believe
is arrived at by the things that we can see.
But heaven knows there’s more than meets the eye.
Ask that little angel on the other side.

Chorus repeat twice.

Fare thee well, fare thee well

Then you’ll hear ol’ Gabriel callin’,
Fare thee well, fare thee well.

It Won’t Always Rain

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

There’s an old, old story…everybody knows
’bout a man named Noah and the story goes,
that he built an ark…for a rainy day.
Soon the rain began and they all were saved.

Then for forty days..and for forty nights
they were so afraid…with no land in sight.
“How much longer will…we be lost at sea?”
Noah said, “I don’t…know but I believe…”

Chorus

It won’t always rain…you won’t always find
cold and cloudy days. Soon the sun will shine.
And the Lord will whisper to your troubled mind.
“It won’t always rain…it won’t always rain.”

There are days I know…that inside my heart
looks just like a storm…on a weather chart.
Cold and cloudy days…with a chance of pain.
and the tears that fall…like a summer rain.

So I fall to my knees…and I find my prayers
and I still believe…that you’re listening there.
When I ask for strength…to get through the day
That’s when the forecast says…the Son is on His way

Chorus Repeat

Bridge

I hear a voice that’s saying “peace be still….”
(peace be still)
I fell the sunlight breaking over the hill

Chorus Repeat Twice

Just Pay Attention

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

She remembers when he first proposed
on a bended knee, a ring and rose,
On a summer day, warm and breezy.
But when he came to visit yesterday,
and she couldn’t remember his first name
after fifty years…well, that ain’t easy.

So he went to the window and raised the blinds.
Talked to her like the very first time he ever met her.
Because he didn’t want to scare her.
Sat all night in the corner chair.
Rain or shine, he was always there.
And on the good days…well, she remembered.

And he smiled with her
And he laughed with her.
He cried with her…as he held on to her.
Well if you want to see…the great love of God..
Just pay attention

Though the children live so far away
they came for a visit yesterday,
And in the little room…
there was sunshine.
She smiled and said “I still remember…
when it snowed that one December on Christmas day…
we stood and watched you play.”

And they smiled with her.
And they laughed with her.
They cried with her…as they held onto her.
Well if you want to see..the great love of God…
Just pay attention.

Bridge

There were so many memories,
too many to keep track.
Now all the love she had to give,
They just want to give some back.

So they smiled with her…
talked and laughed with her.
Sometimes they cried with her…as they held onto her.
Well if you want to see…the great love of God
Just pay attention

Giddy-Up, Giddy-Up

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Way down where chilly Jordan flows,
on their way to Jericho,
Elijah and Elisha and fifty more.
Ol’ Elijah said “Today’s the day…God’s gonna take my soul away.
And I will find what I’ve been searchin’ for.”

Then suddenly out of the sky, came a chariot of fire and light.
A cloud of dust, and the sound of horse’s hooves.
Oh now I don’t know but I hear tell, Elijah had a grand farewell.
He got an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Chorus

I’m a headin’ home now! Never more to roam now!
God has come to take my soul away.
I’m a headed higher…on a chariot of fire!
And I’m not comin’ back, I mean to stay…so…
Giddy-up, giddy-up!

Now they all looked up in disbelief.
For where he went no-one could see.
He vanished with the thunder in the clous.
Well fifty men looked high and low.
But where he went to, they don’t know.
The prophet of the Lord was never found.

Now many years have come and gone.
The ebb and flow of life rolls on,
and one day I will hear that call on high.
Oh but when the angels come for me,
I’ll take the reins and I’ll tell this world good-bye!

Chorus Repeat Twice

Giddy-up, giddy-up….Giddy-up, giddy-up
Giddy-up, giddy up….Giddy-up, giddy-up
I’m a headed higher! On a chariot of fire! So giddy-up!

Go Ahead and Cry

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

The sunshine feels so good today,
So much sweeter than yesterday
When those storm clouds…had me so far down.
One of those days when I’d had enough.
I couldn’t tell which ay was up.
Holding back the tears…so that no one hears.
Now I don’t know if an angel came my way,
But I heard a whisper…telling me…that everything’s okay

Chorus

Go ahead and cry…
Believing that Jesus…sees us.
Pray with all your might…
when you’re hurting, He’s working.
With a whisper He will quiet all your fears.
So go ahead and cry.
He’s on His way to wipe away your tears.

When the clouds obscure the light of day,
have you ever felt you’ve lost your way?
And that no one cares…well we’ve all been there.
But I know someone you can tell,
He heard the woman at the well,
And the lame man, too…
Well He can still hear you.
So it’s not time to give in when you’ve come so far.
Take it from…all of us who’ve…been right where you are.

Chorus Repeat

Five Smooth Stones

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Have you ever faced a giant?
Standing there, he’s so defiant,
daring you…try and come on through.

I’m reminded of the story
of the shepherd boy whose glory
was renowned…for the faith he’d found.

David saw Goliath and he knew just what to do.
David didn’t wonder if the Lord would see him through.

Chorus

If I had the faith of David…
any problem I would face it, knowing well…that I could not fail.
If I had the faith of David….
I’m telling you it would be great if, I lived here…never knowing fear.
And I would never worry…what the day may bring.
If I saw what God could do with five smooth stones and a sling.

Sitting there around the campfire,
David heard the giant’s laughter,
said “I’ll go…I will meet our foe.”

Wounded soldiers convalescing,
the situation so distressing,
none could see…any victory.
David didn’t understand what they were frightened for.
For David it was just another victory for the Lord.

Chorus Repeat Twice

Tell Me The Story of Jesus

William H. Parker / Public Domain

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious.
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth,
“Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth.”

Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain;
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.

Love in that story so tender,
Clearer that ever I see;
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
“Love paid the ransom for me.”

Glory to God in the highest,
Peace and good tidings to earth.
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
