Lyrics: Abundant Sunshine

Abundant Sunshine (Part 1)

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

There is a place of abundant sunshine
And it waits for you on down the line
I can tell you’re weary from the race
But someday you’ll feel it on your face.

Someday you’ll find
Abundant sunshine.

Do you have a list of questions
That you carry deep within your heart?
It’s so cold when storm clouds gather.
It’s so hard to see when skies grow dark.

There are men whose words lose their meaning.
There are children longing for a home.
There are mothers lost in darkness.
And on rainy days they are all alone.

I pray they’ll find.
Abundant sunshine.

We should take the road before us.
We should pray and be made new.
And the light that shines in Jesus,
Will reach the world through you.
And guess what they’ll find…

This Is Where Needed Things Are Found

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

I met a man with a family
And they had all you could ever need;
Vacation home out in the sun,
Two brand new cars and a college fund.

Then one day he was out of work.
He started drinking to hide the hurt.
And every night his children cried.
His wife just kept it all inside

And the things that seemed so valuable before
Didn’t really seem to matter anymore.

Late one night he stumbled in.
He needed help she needed him.
They needed hope they needed it bad,
And their kids were needing a mom and dad.

When the life they had was gone, the love remained.
There was nothing left for them to do but pray.

Oh but this is where needed things are found.
This is where worries are laid down.
This is where hopelessness ended,
where the broken are mended.
Where a heavy heart finds bliss.
If you don’t believe this place exists
just look around.
This is where all those needed things are found.

I saw a man upon a cross
And people came from every walk.
They needed love they needed grace.
And mercy brought them to this place.

I Can Think Of One

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

Have you ever been lost as a ball in the tall weeds?
Ever had a time when everything went wrong?
Ever met a man who couldn’t win for losing?
Well let me save you the trouble, I can think of one.

Where you gonna turn when your world stops turning?
Who you gonna call when you feel all alone?
Is there a place where you can take your troubles?
Who’ll be your friend when the day is done?

“I can’t think of one!” said the blind beggar.
“I can think of one!” said the woman at the well.
If you don’t know who made a lame man run!
I can think of one, I can think of one.

Who was the man who fed the four thousand?
With a few little fish and seven loaves of bread?
Who was the man who died on the old cross?
And just three days later he arose from the dead.

I can think of one, I can think of one.
Who came out shining brighter than the sun.
Who did the job that needed to be done?
I can think of one, I can think of one.

Who’s gonna ride on a could in the morning,
With an army of angels all of his own?
Who’s gonna come and gather his children?
Who’ll be the one who’s taking me home?

Put Wings Upon Your Problems

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

Somewhere along the way you realized
It’s been so long since you
had seen sunny skies.
Just up above those stormy clouds,
you know someone is looking down.
If only there were some way you
Could call on him
Well my friend there is.

Just put wings upon your problem
And it becomes a prayer.
Lift your worries up to heaven
Where Jesus hears and cares.
When burdens grow so heavy
and oh so hard to bear
Just put wings upon your problem
and it becomes a prayer.

You have resigned yourself to feeling unloved
Shackles and chains may bind your heart,
oh but above Jesus looks down and sees
a lost little lamb who needs
to rest in the arms of the shepherd,
the one who says “Come unto me…”

Just put wings…upon your problem
Just put wings…upon your problem.
Just put wings…upon your problem
And it becomes a prayer.

Thomas, Why Do You Doubt

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

Here in the pages of God’s holy word
so many wonderful stories are heard.
Stories of miracles Jesus had done.
Of the disciples, especially one.

Thomas walked daily by our Saviors side,
witnessing miracles time after time.
Yet in his heart he thought “How can this be?”
“This man was blind but now somehow, he sees.”

Many the tears that poor Thomas had cried.
For none were more saddened when Jesus had died.
Then three days later still burdened with grief,
Jesus asked Thomas of his unbelief.

Thomas, oh Thomas, oh why do you doubt?
What is so hard that you can’t figure out?
For I died on that cross and was laid in the tomb.
Then three days later the stone door was moved
and I stepped outside
into the morning light.
Thomas, oh why do you doubt?

One simple truth that I cannot ignore.
Of all the disciples who walked with the Lord,
I like to think that my own faith has grown.
But the faith of old Thomas is more like my own.

You Get Back Each Single Minute

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

If they could see all the things you’ve had to deal with
I believe that the world would be as proud of you as me.
I believe. Yes, I believe.

But how could they know
that a heavy heart would bring you down so low.
When through it all you never let it show.
And all along your faith was strong.

There were hard times, there were tough days
When you seemed to carry the weight
Of the whole world on your shoulders all alone
But if you think that no-one noticed,
God was watching and he promised
Every single prayer was brought before his throne.

So in the valley, at your limit
Every moment you were in it
You get back each single minute
You get back each single minute
You get back each single minute

All of your life when you think about the days
You spent in strife
Oh you didn’t waste a single tear you cried
They were the keys to eternity

So when the tears come, when your heart breaks
And you can’t give all that it takes
Every troubled day that’s mounting
There’s an angel somewhere counting.
You get back each single minute.

So in the valley, at your limit
Every moment you were in it
You get back each single minute.
You get back each single minute.
You get back each single minute.
You get back each single minute.
You get back each single minute.
You get back each single minute.
You get back each single minute.
Every tear shed for a loved one, every night you spent in prayer
Every kindness, every mercy is remembered over there.
You get back each single minute…up in heaven you’ll begin it.

God’s Got A Whole Lot Of Love

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

There’s a well in the middle
of a town in Samaria
(and) there in the middle of the day,
a woman came by
just to draw water
There was the Lord in her way.
Now she would have been pleased
with a pail full of water
(and) things like they always had been.
But Jesus told her all
about the living water
(and) now she will never thirst again.

God’s got a whole lot of love, lot of love.
God’s got a whole lot of love.
Look at all the people needing just a little.
God has more than enough.
(There’s a) whole lot of angels
carrying a whole lot of prayers
to the father above.
(But) God’s got a whole lot of love, lot of love.
(oh) God’s got a whole lot of love.

If we take a little tour through
the heart of a Christian,
here’s one thing we would find;
Jesus promised
even in trouble
still we can have peace of mind.
There’s a whole lot of problems
looking for solutions,
A whole lot of prayers going up.
(And that’s a) whole lot of people
in need, it’s a good thing.
God’s got a whole lot of love.

God’s got a whole lot of love
God’s got a whole lot of love.
God’s got a whole lot of love
God’s got a whole lot of love!

The Patience of Angels

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

When Mary cried the angels heard her weeping.
For they loved, as she, that man upon the cross.
They remembered when they delivered him as an infant.
On the day that mankinds gain was heavens loss.

And here they were again to see him suffer.
Some turned away, as skies of gray turned black.
As they waited on the edge of heavens portals,
with a whisper from his lips, they’d bring him back.

Oh the story tells of the patience of the angels.
When heaven’s only son was sacrificed.
We’d never find eternal life.
But for the love of Jesus Christ
and the patience of the angels in the sky.

For a moment, all around heard only silence.
Not a mournful cry, no soldier’s taunt nor jeer.
For instead of calling down ten thousand angels,
on a stained and matted face they traced a tear.

Mean, Mean People

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

Life can be a happy song…with smiling folks that get along…
But those who grumble and complain are like a day that’s filled with rain…

What are we gonna do about these mean, mean people?
Where does it come from?
I can’t really say for sure.
Not much you and I can do for mean, mean people.
Love could be the remedy.
Jesus is the cure.

Put your head down in your hands and maybe they’ll just go away.
Brother then we understand it only comes again someday.

We’re commissioned by the Lord
To try and do a little more
To take His love into a hurting world.

What are we gonna do about these hurting people?
Where does it come from?
I can’t really say for sure.
Let the sun shine down on all these hurting people.
Love might be the remedy
And Jesus is the cure.

Written On A Tree

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

Underneath a tree, a little boy and a little girl
swinging on a swing, without a care in the whole world.
He was sweet on her, she was sweet on him.
But they could never show, what the other meant to them.

In the 7th grade, Cindy hit that awkward stage.
She didn’t feel as pretty as the other girls her age.
And he didn’t seem to notice her much anymore.
She wanted more than anything to be like it was before.

One day he called out to Cindy underneath that tree.
When she ran out to find him he was nowhere to be seen.

She was sure that no-one loved her
even though he was thinking of her
All the time she was on his mind
She felt all alone inside
She sat beneath a tree and cried
but she realized, when she wiped her eyes.
there it was for all the world to see
Cindy, I love you
written on a tree.

One day they were married and their family grew.
Oh the happiness, and they joy they knew.
Fifty years had gone and then he passed away.
It was a lonesome time, they were lonesome days.

And now she had to sit alone on Sunday morn
in the little church where they had gone.
One day in the stained glass she looked up to see
Jesus looking back from a rugged tree.

Hanging there He thought of her, she heard in a song.
She felt so alone, oh but she was so wrong.

Abundant Sunshine (Part 2)

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/BMI/ Centergy Music/ BMI

From the valley, the pathway winds upward.
At the end of the journey is a resting place,
where the cold gray skies are below us
and I finally feel the warmth upon my face.

Abundant sunshine for my soul.
I’ll need not worry when the cold winds blow.
All of those storm clouds are far below.
I have abundant sunshine for my soul.
