Lyrics: The Song In My Heart

Send It

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Chorus

Lord, if You have a blessing for me, send it.
‘Till my cup’s overflowing, Lord, send it.
Everything will be all right when the angels take their flight,
Just send it on their wings, Lord, send it.

Verse 1

In the days of my youth, how I tried many things
To fill up that emptiness inside.
Before very long, I discovered the Truth.
Only one thing left me satisfied.

Repeat Chorus

Verse 2

How long has it been since I felt that Spirit,
That once filled my heart up with love?
Renew my desire to embrace those blessings,
To receive what descends from above.

Verse 3

And if I have a friend, or a neighbor who is searching.
Instead of looking up, they’re looking down.
Give me the wisdom to point them to Calvary,
And share with them the blessings that I’ve found.

2nd Chorus

Lord, if You have a blessing for us, send it.
‘Till our cup’s overflowing, Lord, send it.
Everything will be all right when the angels take their flight,
Just send it on their wings, Lord, send it.

Repeat 2nd Chorus

You Were Working For Me

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1

She picked the tip up off the table,
Wiped her forehead with her sleeve.
Another tray of dirty dishes, and it’s time for her to leave.
She clocks out and says ‘good night ya’ll’,
Looks out at the road ahead.
When she pulls into the drive, it’s time to put the kids in bed.

Verse 2

I hope you know your mother loves you.
Oh you know, we know you do.
We tried to clean the house, and we did all our homework too.
Mom, I hope you feel real special, cause anyone can see,
You’re not working for the money, you’re working for a family.

Chorus

Yeah, you’re working for me.
And you’re paying the price.
And I’ll never forget how much you gave,
or how much you sacrificed.
And I’m gonna pay you back someday, you’ll see.
For all that you gave up, when you were working for me.

Verse 3

One last time she goes to visit, and she’s holding back the tears.
The doctor says, “It won’t be long. Your mother’s getting up in years.”
I hope you know your daughter loves you,
Oh you know, I know you do.
She strokes her hair and smiles and holds her hand the whole night through.

Verse 4

Then somewhere in the morning, just before the break of day.
A mother’s fingers lose their grip, and a last breath slips away.
And the hard life she held on to, she turns loose and lets it go.
Then a gentle voice says “Come on home, in case you didn’t know.”

2nd Chorus

You were working for me.
And you paid the price.
And I didn’t forget how much you gave,
or how much you sacrificed.
Now it’s time to pay you back,
Oh you’re gonna see.
For all that you gave up,
When you were working for me.

Tag

And I know sometimes it seemed like you were working for free,
But you were working for me. You were working for me.

When Jesus Saw Inside Of Me

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1

I am only one among so many,
Just a pilgrim passing through this land.
Measured by the standards of this world,
I am just an ordinary man.
I have never set my sights upon fortune or fame,
Nor has it been my desire for the world to know my name.
In this lifetime, I may not compare.
To a movie star or millionaire.

But when Jesus saw inside of me,
He saw something noone else could see.
He saw passed each imperfection,
Every callas, every scar.
Now the blood of royalty flows within my heart.
When the world said there’s no hope for me,
That’s when Jesus saw inside of me.

Verse 2

I am not the house where I abide,
I’m not the car I drive or the clothes I wear.
There is more to me than my possessions,
I’m a Christian and a royal heir.
When the world looks on the outside,
That’s when Jesus looks within.
And He finds His greatest treasures in the hearts of righteous men.
When I felt I couldn’t offer much.
When I felt beyond the Savior’s touch.

Repeat Chorus

The Son of a Carpenter

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1
They say He is the son of a carpenter, playing on the streets of Galilee.
I’ve seen Him run and jump; I’ve heard him laughing,
He doesn’t seem so different to me.
Mother said she saw Him in the market;
Something in His eyes relieved her fears.
Daddy said he heard him in the Temple,
Said that he was wise beyond his years.

Verse 2
Just the other day down at the stable, I was talking with a friend of mine.
He said that he was with Him at a wedding,
And saw Him turn the water into wine.
He said that, “there were people all around Him,
Listening to all He had to say.
I’m telling you, I saw Him tough a lame man.
He got up and he walked away.”

Verse 3
I never hung around religious people; I didn’t think they cared too much for me.
But I believe this Jesus, He is different
I believe He’s more than what He seems.
They say He doesn’t stay inside the Temple,
He’s talking to the people on the street.
I guess I’ll never know, ‘cause why would He talk to
Someone who’s a beggar and a thief?

Verse 4
A lady friend of mine said met Him when she was drawing water from the well.
Said that He knew everything about her,
Things that she was too ashamed to tell.
Told all about this “living water,”
When you drink, you’ll never thirst again.
She said she had to leave, that things were different,
Said she found forgiveness for her sins.

Verse 5
So now I’m all alone, and I was thinking, they tell me that a friend of His has died.
I’m sure that I could find Him at the funeral,
Maybe I could talk to Him awhile.
All around the tomb, the people gathered,
I couldn’t see a thing above the crowd.
I thought I heard them say the stone was rolled back,
I thought I heard them say a man came out.

Verse 6
Every time I turn around, I mess up; I guess my reputation found me out.
Suddenly I found myself in shackles,
I don’t know what they’ll do now.
Over in the other cell they’ve laid Him;
Through the blood I hardly recognized,
The man who was the son of a carpenter,
I’m not even sure He’s still alive.

Verse 7
It’s getting hard to breathe; my eyes are weary. He’s hanging on the cross right next to me.
A while ago I heard Him say, “Forgive them,”
Even with nails in His hands and feet.
I told Him I was sorry, I deserve this.
He said, “You’ll go with me to Paradise.”
And when He bowed His head, He cried, “It’s finished.”
Then everything was still when Jesus died.

Tag
He said, “Somewhere up above My Father’s working,
Building mansions for the redeemed.”
They say He was the son of a carpenter,
And I believe. Yes, I believe.

Let Jesus Be the Song in Your Heart

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1
Without a song your days are long.
The skies are cold and gray.
All the happiness you don’t express dries up and blows away.
But when you sing “Amazing Grace” those clouds begin to part.
He’s not listening to your voice. He’s listening to your heart.

Chorus
So let Jesus be the song in your heart.
If your life needs a melody, then I know where to start.
Just sing along with Him and watch your worries fall apart
And let Jesus be the song in your heart.

Verse 2
I once knew a man from Alabam who worried night and day.
He tried everything the world could bring to chase his blues away.
Then one day, upon his knees, he finally saw the light.
He said so long to all that’s wrong and now he feels alright.

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
If your life needs a melody, then I know where to start.
Just sing along with Him and watch your worries fall apart
And let Jesus be the song in your heart.

He Did

Mark Bishop Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Verse 1
Who looked through time and saw a hopeless generation?
Who saw mankind couldn’t pay for his own salvation?
Who knew the only way it could be done?
Who knew how desperate things had become?
No soul on earth knew the answer, but He did.

Verse 2
Who gave up His throne at the right hand of God up in Heaven?
Who came down to Earth and walked among the humble and poor?
Who suffered at the hands of the ones He would save?
Who carried that cross up Golgotha that day?
Who felt those nails in His hands and His feet? He did.

Chorus
You might not have known that your soul was in need of salvation.
You might not have known why He had to die on that cross.
You might not have known there was no other way,
He could save you from your sin.
He did, He did; He did.

Verse 3
At the tomb, Mary asked the angel, “Did my savior arise?” (He did.)
And the angels asked God, “is it over, did He pay the price?’ (He did.)
Satan approached God, prepared to defend,
“Who gave you the right to forgive all those sins?”
God pointed to His Son now seated at his right hand and said, “He did.”

Cloud Nine, Headed for Ten

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

So Many times I’ve wondered how it must have felt,
To be alive in Jesus’ day.
To see the many miracles Jesus performed,
Like when the lame got up and walked away.

I wonder what ol’ Lazarus was thinking,
When Jesus called him out of the grave.
I couldn’t begin to imagine the thrill,
But maybe they heard him say,
“I fell more than okay.”

Chorus
I’m like Elijah called up in the wind,
I’m ol’ Daniel walkin’ out of the lions den.
I ain’t felt this good since I don’t know when,
I’m on cloud nine, headed for ten.

I have been defeated by my worry and doubt,
Held captive by the pain and the hurt.
And when within myself I try to figure it out,
It only goes from bad to worse.

Down on my knees, I cry to the Lord,
And begin to feel it inside,
How can I explain it when my heart overflows?
There are no words to describe,
Just what I feel like…

God Just Answered Another Prayer

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1

A little girl praying at her bed one night.
“Lord help mommy and daddy not to fight.”
Mom and dad are worried cause the bills are due,
They’re counting every penny and trying to make it through.
Daddy drives to work on the other side of town,
He pulls over on the shoulder, somebody’s broken down.

Verse 2

A man gets in the car and says, “Thank you for the ride.
Nobody else would stop, and it’s freezing outside.
I’m the owner of the factory down a mile or two.”
Daddy tells the man, “You know, I work there too.”
Now everybody’s happy cause daddy got a raise.
Ain’t it funny what can happen when a little girl prays?

Chorus:

Ya know time and time again when somebody prays,
You know the Good Lord works in mysterious ways.
You may not see it coming from anywhere.
But God just answered another prayer.

Verse 3

There’s a mother back home, praying for her son.
He’s under heavy fire from an enemies gun.
He’s a soldier at the front, completely unaware
Of the angels catching bullets in the middle of the air.
If we could only see, we’d surely be amazed
At the mountains being moved with just a little bit of faith.

Repeat Chorus

In every situation, God is in control.
Little interventions that nobody, nobody knows.

I said God just answered another prayer.
And you can’t ask too much of my God.

I Remember Her Well

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1

The flowers and the candles were perfect.
I’ve never seen so many friends.
The groom and the best man are ready
And the minister says that it’s time to begin.

I love how you laugh when you’re nervous.
Your mother says “Oh, you’ll do fine.”
There’re so many things that a dad wants to say,
But I guess that this isn’t the time.

Like, honey, did I ever tell you about a girl that I used to know.
I was the only man in her life, not very long ago.
I told her stories at bedtime. I sang her songs, and I tied her shoes.
I remember I cried when I waved goodbye on her first day of school.

Chorus:

But you don’t know her.
You wouldn’t remember her.
You don’t know her.
But I remember her well.

Summer nights spent in the backyard.
Just her, her mother and me.
We looked at the stars and we chased lightning bugs
And we laughed in the warm summer breeze.

“Someday, you’ll find your prince”, I said.
“And all of your dreams will come true.”
“Daddy, when I grow up,” she said,
“I’m gonna marry you.”

So look at you now in that white gown,
Taking everyone’s breath away.
Reminding me of an angel in her fourth grade Christmas play.
And trying to keep her from growing,
Was like keeping the summer from fall.
I couldn’t keep her as my little girl,
Time won’t let me keep her at all.

Repeat Chorus

And up till now, I thought I’d done some tough jobs in my day.
But the hardest thing a dad ever does is give his girl away.

So the old tree house stands empty.
The swings on the swing set are still.
And noone’s chasing those old lighting bugs.
From now on, I guess noone will.

You don’t know her.
You wouldn’t remember her.
You don’t know her.
But she’ll always be my little girl.

One Prayer Over

Mark Bishop Centergy Music/Possum Run Music BMI

Verse 1

Hey you there listening.
You’ve been waiting so long and listening.
For someone who knows,
For someone to show you the way.

And you feel so lonely,
Like maybe you’re the only one,
Who’s going through what you’re going through today.

Now I don’t pretend to know,
How your situation got so low.
But sometimes life can bring you to your knees.
And I guess there’s no explaining,
Why sometimes it just keeps raining,
And your happy sunny days are distant memories.

Chorus:

But one prayer over from where you are now,
Lies the answer to your problem,
If you’ll only allow.
It’s already taken care of,
Though you don’t yet know how.
Just one prayer over from where you are now.

Verse 2

If it’s any consolation,
You know, no matter your situation.
I’ve got a friend who has seen it all before.
He will listen with compassion.
You might think it sounds old fashioned.
But all you’ve gotta do is just open up that door.

Repeat Chorus
